Top Five Nintendo Switch Games of 2019

Here at Nerd Jock Blog, we are unashamed fan-boys of the Nintendo Switch. How could anyone not be a fan? With all the unique experiences available there is something for every type of gamer. We all have an eclectic and unique taste in video games. We all have played many games over the past year. Here, in order no particular order are our top five Switch games released in 2019. If you haven’t played any of these you’re missing out!

#1 Untitled Goose Game, Developer: House, House

Untitled Goose Game is a 2019 puzzle–stealth game developed by House House and published by Panic. In the game, players control a goose who bothers the inhabitants of an English village. The player must use the goose’s abilities to manipulate objects and non-player characters in order to complete specific objectives and make progress through the game.

Download this game from the eShop and let the hilarity hi jinks and good time role! This indie game took the internet by storm when it released on Switch in September this year.

#2 Super Mario Maker 2, Developer: Nintendo

Mario Maker 2 is a game that had high expectations and certainly met, if not exceeded those expectations. Super Mario Maker 2 is a side-scrolling platform game and game creation system developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the sequel to Super Mario Maker that was released on Wii U. The original game was the closest thing to a “system seller” released on the Wii U.

The game features a robust creation system, amazing user created experiences that provide a wide variety of play styles. Nintendo even recently released a free update that includes a power up that allows players to traverse levels as 8-bit Link from the Legend of Zelda Series. This is certainly an essential pick-up for any Switch owner.

#3 Pokémon Sword and Shield, Developer: Game Freak

Pokémon finally got it’s first mainline game on a tv based console this year.  Our blogger, Dan Burkett is not shy to admit his love for all things Pokémon. In his opinion this game is all he needs for his Switch.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are 2019 role-playing video games developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. They are the first installments in the eighth generation of the Pokémon video game series.


#4 Luigi’ Mansion 3, Developer: Next Level Games

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an action-adventure game developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the sequel to Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and the third installment in the Luigi’s Mansion series.


#5 Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, Developer: Team Ninja

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is a video game developed by Koei Tecmo’s Team Ninja and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the third installment in the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance series following 2006’s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and 2009’s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, and the first Marvel game published by Nintendo. It is set in an entirely different universe than the two previous games.

There were far more than five games that we felt were deserving to be considered for this list. Here is our honorable mention list of games that just missed the top five:

Ring Fit Adventure, Developer: Nintendo
