XFL Names Marc Trestman as Tampa Bay’s First Head Coach

“When do I relocate”

Ok, granted I made up that quote from Marc Trestman, but I’m sure it wasn’t that far down the list of questions he had when offered the head coaching/ GM position with the new Tampa Bay XFL franchise. Commissioner, Oliver Luck formally introduced Marc Trestman during a live press conference held today.

Luck has stated that they will continue to name head coaches this spring. Based on the current rate of revealing head coaches, all eight franchises will have the position filled by May 9th, 2019. We are currently half way there.

Trestman, 63 is not new to the role as head coach. He’s had mixed success in the NFL leading the Chicago Bears to a record of 13-19 (2013-2014). In the CFL, Trestman has made it to four Grey Cups, winning three. Twice with Montreal (2009, 2010) and once with Toronto (2017).

March Trestman brings a lot of experience and an offensive mind set. After the press conference he stated, “I am very excited to be on the ground floor with Oliver, his team, and the other coaches across the XFL to help reimagine football. I started my coaching career in Florida while I was in law school, and personally know the passion and love for the game that football fans have in the Tampa Bay area and across the state.I can’t wait to begin putting a coaching staff together and building a team that will play disciplined, fundamentally sound and exciting football come February. Many thanks to Vince McMahon and Commissioner Luck for this tremendous opportunity”.
